In Which I Put the Bananas in Their Place

Today was weird. We did nothing. Correction: I did nothing. Sammy mostly had the day off, but he's always working. I made muffins. I also made a video of me making muffins. That's still in progress. I am learning how to use iMovie. I've never made an edit-able video before. My sainted mother followed me around with a video camera when I made my film debut in Meet the Planets (4th grade solar system project) and the sequel Meet the Muses (9th grade Greek mythology project). We filmed on location in chronological order.

This is going to sound really silly, but I'm trying this new thing where I don't waste food. It's just so easy to let things go bad. And when they do we think, whatever, I'll go get more. I made muffins so I could use the 3 bananas that were getting too freckle-y for comfort. Like teenagers, without warning they start breaking out into unsightly spots and mocking you "We're going bad and there's nothing you can do about it!" Along with the bananas, I used up the last of my bread and my pita today.  Usually it takes me quite some time to get through a whole loaf. But I've been enjoying a cheese toast before bed lately so the mold monster did not get this one.

Thanks to Bethany I am having home made salsa for snacks. I also made some spaghetti earlier this week with the sauce she put up last summer. Brought home-canned green beans as well, so I'll fix those up later this week. Strawberry-cherry jam from grandma is helping the home sickness too.

I got to Skype with Carlos today. That was amazing. He's in Asheville. I'm in Nashville. But there he was, on my computer. Crazy. I know that's old news to most people. But it's not old news to me. It's very new news and super exciting.

There was a residual funk, sort-of from my dream but mostly from not doing anything all day. Chatting online with my mom and seeing a friendly face definitely helped. Tomorrow is going to be productive. Lots of hard work. That's what I need.

The song of the day seems to be Songbird by Ryan Montbleau. I can't hear it enough. I love it so so much. None of the videos are great. If you have Spotify, play it there instead.

Kisses!
